About Us

  The Power Electronics Society (PELS), Is one of the fastest-growing technical societies of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. PELS has been an integral part of IEEE for the past 35 years. It revolves around the constructive use of electrical equipment and components. The main motive of PELS is a scientific, educational and artistic approach to Electrical and Electronic Engineering and to inculcate knowledge through Webinars and Educational Events. PELS helps in achieving good relationships and exchange of knowledge among the society through its coordinated efforts. PELS holds meetings for Paper Presentations Sponsor Periodicals and Special publications. PELS also helps in the fruitful management of electrical power and application of circuit theory. SCAVENGER HUNT2.0

Date:-18-02-2023

Venue/Platform: Gather Town – Online

Time: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Description:

The scavenger hunt is a virtual treasure hunt based on electrical-related questions. The event will be taking place online in gather town. 

Instructions:

  • Each participant will be allotted their Gather space to join.
  • Inside the space you have to interact with the objects placed over by pressing ‘x’.
  • By doing so you will be able to Fall upon electrical-related questions.
  • For the correct answers Hint for the next question will be given.
  • There will be a total of 20 questions to solve and remember the first letter of each answer.
  • Put the letters after ‘https://bit.ly/’ It Will Lead You to a G-meet.
  • Who Comes First Inside The Meet Will Be Announced As The Winner.
  •  Participants must attend the event only via PC or laptop, the Phone version has a lot of bugs.
  • And for a good sport please don’t share the answers or question location with anyone.

PCB DESIGN

Date: 19-02-2023

Time: 10.00 AM to 12.00 PM

Venue/Platform: Easy EDA, Google classroom

RULES:

  • There will be two Rounds.
  • First round will be an MCQ in which the link will be posted on Google classroom
  • Shortlisted participants from the preliminary will participate in the second round.
  • In the Second round, Participants will be given a complex circuit for which PCB has to be designed through EDA .
  • Most precise Circuit Will be awarded As Winner.

VALORANT

Date: 19-02-2023

Time: 04.00 PM to 08.00 PM

Venue/Platform: Valorant – online

It is an online First person shooting game played against other online players. The valorant gaming tournament is being held on 19 – 02 – 2023. The round’s timing and fixtures will be sent to the registered participants to their email ID. The participants are requested to stay active on the evening of the event date.

RULES :

  • There are only eight team entries. First come, first served.
  • Each team must have five members and only full teams are permitted.
  • Each player must provide their own Riot ID and tagline during registration.
  • Their competitive Rank must also need to be provided
  • There will be three rounds – quarter-final, semi-finals and finals, each round is conducted in a custom room match with 13 rounds to win and only finals will have overtime.
  • Any form of cheating or unacceptable activities will cause the team to be disqualified

PROJECT EXPO

Project Expo

Date: 20-02-2023

Time: 11.00 AM to 12.20 PM

Venue/Platform: Power Electronics LAB

INSTRUCTION
  • The event is open to all Departments.
  • Each team can have a maximum of 4 members.
  • Each team needs to submit the abstract of their project while registering and Multiple submissions can be done before the deadline, the best would be shortened to the next round.
  • The shortlisted Teams must attend the next round on our college campus.
  • The participants must bring the working model of their project for an explanation. If you couldn’t bring it to the campus you have to bring a video presentation of the project which is necessary to be eligible for the next round.(Note: bringing the prototype will give additional marks)
  • Each team must prepare a PowerPoint Presentation regardless of bringing a prototype or video using the template provided
  • Duration for the presentation is 15 min which may be changed on the date of the event, followed by 5 mins of queries session.

WORK SHOP

Workshop

Date: 20-02-2023

Time: 08.30 AM to 11.00 AM

Venue/Platform: Power Electronics Lab 

Description:

The training is mandatory for all registered attendees. The speaker will present technological ideas concerning the chosen topic, and it will be an interactive session. The workshop will last one and a half hours, and certificates will be issued.

Instruction:

  • The participants are requested to remain present throughout the session.
  • Participants are welcome to discuss with the speaker any questions they have about the topic.
  • It is mandatory for all registered participants to attend the session.

  

 

NON TECHNICAL EVENTS

THINGS OUT OF TRASH

Things out of trash

Date: 20-02-2023

Time: 11.00 AM to 02.20 PM

Venue/Platform: EEE block

Description:

Creating useful and decorative out of waste to make the best of time. To make something innovative and attractive out of a material that is of no use otherwise. Trash items will be provided by the organizers. The theme will be decorative things. They have to make use of the time allotted to do decorative things.

The organizers of the event will provide trash collection for the event.

Participants will be allocated the required amount of time to create decorative items 

An indication of the theme will be given at the time of the event 

Assertiveness will be taken into account when selecting the winners

BLOCK AND TACKLE

Block and tackle

Date: 20-02-2023

Time: 11.00 AM to 02.20 PM

Venue/Platform: EEE block

Description: 

Block and Tackle is a break from the conventional form of debating. Here, a participant needs to speak both for and against the motion. Start off speaking for the motion and when the moderator says ‘block’ he/she needs to reverse your motion, and ‘tackle’ would mean to return to your original motion.

Instruction:

  • A participant is given any random topic and instantly has tospeak, “for or against” the topic.
  • In a duration of 5 minutes whenever the moderatorcommands ‘switch’, the speaker will have to toggle between‘for’ and ‘against’ multiple times thereby contradicting the previous statements.
  • Vulgarity and the use of obscene language will lead to

immediate disqualification.

  • The speaker evaluates spontaneity, humour, creativity, content and overall performance.

TOWER BUILDING

Tower building

Time: 11:00 AM to 02:20 PM

Venue: EEE Block

Description:

It’s a tower-building game with paper cups which has to be arranged into a tower within the time limit.

Instruction:

  • The organizers will provide paper cups.
  • The participants must arrange the cups into a tower within the time limit.
  • The participant who built the tallest tower is selected as the winner.
